Utterly mad, but lovely - do blog up your progress on here, I'd like to see what happens!

If it were me I'd leave it as standard, and have fun driving around at 8mph.....

Your first priority should be to go to a joke shop and get some arms to put coming out of the coffin!
seriously though, that looks like a great project.

Hmm, wouldn't it be the same offence as you'd be charged with for peeing in a shop doorway and effectively exposing your bits? Not so sure that's a good thing. A sex offence perhaps, but a good thing? ;)

I'm not at all sure it would be an offence to do the thing with the arms, possibly slightly dodgier would be motorising a tailor's dummy and dressing it, then having it sit up in the casket as you drive along. That'd wind some folk up I should think.

People wont know whether to doff their hats or laugh their socks off as you drive past in that.

Well done for saving it. :)

I had another go at getting it started... Its all a bit more difficult, because its a bit of a custom... But the basics must be the same underneath.

(no spark at the plugs, engine turns over ok.)

If I manually open the points and attach a volt meter (red to points and black to earth) they spark, if i manually open the points without the volt meter it does not spark. That tells me something interesting I am just not quite sure what!

I also have no idea what the condenser or other parts are, its based on a 1968 DS420 however it was made in 1977, so it has an alternator and modern fan etc...

Hmmmmmmmm

Oh and here is the kicker, I cant take the S-type for an MOT (as I planned today) because its blocked in by the hearse!!! At 3 tonnes I cant bump it or move it manually... I need to get my neighbour with his truck to come round...

My dad called today and said he was disturbed i had got the hearse... He thought it was morbid and wrong. -That makes it worth me buying it.

I think this is the right part for that lump http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Jaguar-electronic ... 0590484634
give the seller a ring, he has electronic igniton kits for everything and seems to know his stuff.
It must be worth a £30 investment to know that the ignition system is good (and will never need adjusting again!) Even if it is only to let your Jag escape.

That's the older folks for you. My Dad said much the same when I told him - back in 1987 - that I'd just bought a new FSO 125P.
