Got something to say, but it's not classic related? Here's the place to discuss. Also includes the once ever-so-popular word association thread... (although we've had to start from scratch with it - sorry!)
ive heard that if you are unfortunate enough to drive in london during the games & stray on to the special olyimpic roads you will receive a £200 fine... seems a bit steep to me.
i wont be going
Oh no, no , no, you negative people; we are all going to be much better off as a result Didn't you know it wasn't the industrial revolution that got things going, it was an athletics meeting, just outside Sevenoaks, in about 1780. Here in South Wales, we've so much money, following the Ryder Cup, we don't know what to do with it
Rules exist for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men.
MG Midget 1500, MGB GT V8, Morris Minor Traveller 1275, MG Midget 1275 & too many bicycles.
im not knocking the games as such, its really not my thing & it annoys me we have to pay for it, but i find the fine excessive. the village which was built at a cost of nearly a billion? was sold to a foreign company for £557 million... sounds like a con to me
I think you are all being unfair. I am near Hadleigh in Essex where they are doing the mountain bike event and have had to put up with roadworks for 2 years and cloisures while they practice BUT the council has said that after the even they are CONSIDERING letting local residents use the track. Whick is nice of them considering council tax payers paid for it!

I had a flat about 1/2 mile from the olympic site. i have sold up and moved out of london. I'm now working in Nottingham doing a better job for more or less the same money and no olympic rubbish to worry about
I have no objection to the Olympics as such but there is no way it should be hosted in East London!

I had to venture into Weymouth Monday, at least it's a bit easier to get to the industrial estate thanks to the nice new bit of road they've put in for the olympics!
I shall be glad after it's finished, traffic down here is bad enough this time of year, let alone with the extra this will bring in, plus I'm not at all interested in it.
