Re: Getting the basics right - tightening cooling hose clips
Many thanks for the tips guys.
I had bought a set of genuine Jubilee stainless steel clips, cost a lot but as I want to keep the car for a very long time I saw it as a wise investment, having had problems with rubbish clips before. I didn't bother with copper grease as the stainless shouldn't ...

Getting the basics right - tightening cooling hose clips?
Hi all
I have a query about knowing how tight to tighten up cooling hose clips, so that they do not damage the hose but do not leak.
I have read somewhere that jubilee-type hose clips should be tightened so that the clip is flush with the rubber of the hose, and no tighter. However, this is a fair ...

Rocker switch grease?
Hi all
Does anybody have any recommendation for what type of grease I should use inside dashboard rocker switches, to keep them moving smoothly?
Some switches I have taken apart have had red or yellow grease grease, but as for what exact specification it is, I really don't know!
Any help greatly ...

Re: A-series new water pump leak - simple fix?
Thanks for your reply - I've taken the hose off and found two small splits on the inside end, can't be seen from the outside. I have a spare hose so all is well.
The new water pump was made by 'Firstline' - I didn't know who it made by when I ordered it, but I bought it from a company who sell ...

Re: Escort Bm Hybrid
This project is awesome. I'm so glad that the PC forums are back, this was one thread that I kept checking to see the rapid progress made. Bubs, you have some seriously good skills, and I can't wait to see the finished car - at the rate you're going it won't be too long, you've done so much in such ...

A-series new water pump leak - simple fix?
Hi all
I replaced the water pump on my A-series Allegro, but it now leaks from where the hose is attached.
The hose appears to be in place correctly, and I can't tighten the clip any more. It was fine with the old water pump, and the new one appears to have an identical outlet. So I'm not sure why ...

Re: SU dashpost & pistons - mix 'n' match?
Hmm, OK so best to keep the matched pair I have.
I have one mixed set, which does the 'drop test' too quickly (approx. 4 seconds but works OK when fitted), and one matched pair that passes it perfectly (six seconds). Thing is, the piston from the mixed set has fewer scores on it that the piston in ...

SU dashpost & pistons - mix 'n' match?
Hi all - great to find the forums are back again, just a shame about all the old info that's been lost.
Just a quick question - can you mix carburettor dashpots and pistons for SU carbs? I.e. can you use a dashpot (suction chamber) and a piston from different original assemblies together as long as ...
