had a setback today, ive had to postpone the trip till next year as the bathroom needs a refurb! (part of the floor gave way! ) so a bit more time to hunt!

i do like the 205 suggestion, seen a few about! will have to keep looking, the restoration shows soon so will have a nosey in there!

Forgotten that these were ever produced (and I worked for Fiat dealer in the early 80's) Within budget its even got the steering wheel on the right side for touring Europe (well left side if you understand where I am coming from :?)

Kevin, I grew up on a 90's car dealership so have seen far too many of them! Plus they are not odd enough, bit too safe of a choice! Notice how no diesel mercs are on the list either.

I'd love an sd1 or 2 door Range Rover but the budget and time won't allow for the jobs they would need at my budget ...

Thanks for the input guys, the budget is tight at around £1000-1500 as the rest will be going on the trip!

i am planning a European road trip this year, through France and Italy some 4000 miles but want to use something "different" (ie not my 2005 passat) to do it in, has to have 4 seats (going through wine country so space needed!) and be (within reason) reliable and fun to drive.

any ideas ...
