thanks John--I talked to my tranny man, and he is going to look for the Metro tranny that he took when he delivered the Mk 2 tranny to me after checking it over--he will remove the pinion and post it on--I think I will be okay--

hmmm--very interesting--I am/was under the impression that the pinion had to match the speedo drive gear. So the pinion from my original Metro 3 speed tranny wouldn't fit unless I changed the speedo drive gear also --is this right?

Perhaps someone familiar with the Austin A55 Mk 2 could help solve a technical problem--I installed a 4 "on the floor" transmission from an A55 Mk 2 in my Nash Metropolitan--an easy "drop-in"--the rear transmission mounts fit perfectly.
