I am a bit confused about the size of the cylinders given on the spitfire engine at the bottom of the page.Working out the calculations ( I know I am sad ) it comes to roughly 1300 cc, but the article says that was the size of the 803cc engine and 2.90 in stroke and 2.99in bore.Maybe I dont understand or am thick.
The original A-Series engine displaced just 803 cm3 and was used in the A30 and Morris Minor. It had an undersquare 58 mm (2.3 in) bore and 76.2 mm (3.00 in) stroke. This engine was produced from 1952-1956.

Just about finished reading my copy.
The distributor rebuild guide puzzled me a little as I assumed the old advance springs would generally have weakened so you'd always want to replace them. However, the article suggests only replacing they're not in "good condition" - how can you tell? Also, we're told to measure the resistance of the earth strap with a multi-meter, but not told what figure is acceptable.
While I'm having a moan, the Spitfire engine autopsy described 3-bearing crank as the engine's Achilles heel, but made no mention of the thrust washers.
And please will someone tell Danny the difference between WD40 and penetrating oil (Midget suspension upgrade).
