A Little Help Please??

Hi everyone,

I was just looking for a bit of advice. I know nothing about classic cars I'm afraid and need some advice if anyone can help. When my Grandmother passed she left her car to my wife however it just sits in the garage so I'm looking at getting rid. A friend suggested I don't just scrap it though due to what it is. It's a Mark 1 Ford Fiesta (1983 I think). If I remember correctly there's 28,000 miles on it and all original parts(other than the flower stickers my wife put on when she got it). I have started it occasionally but obviously the battery will be flat and it took some time to get it going but it did start. As I said, I know nothing about cars but wondered if someone could tell me if it's worth getting a car collector to look at it or if it will probably just need scrapping?

Any and all help appreciated.

Hi, a few pictures would help. An early fiesta would be worth restoration.

That price/classification guide is really useful; thanks for that. I'll see if I can get some pictures together this weekend and post them.

No "Classic" should really just be scrapped .. unless you are Genghis Khan of London who loves removing perfectly good classics from the road.

And finding a "car collector" that isn't just a dealer out to make a few quid isn't as easy as it sounds. Hunt out any Fiesta Mk I forums or facebook groups and see if they have any advice.

I appreciate the advice. In all honesty I didn't even know how this car would be classed at all. "Classic", "Retro" "Veteran" so I thank you for your patience and will have a look for those specific forums/groups.

With the low mileage, if it hasn't got any elderly driver dents and scrapes and has been garaged, I would imagine a lot of people would want it. From next April 1st it will be tax and ULEZ exempt, so out of the clutches of Mr Khan.

That's really good to know. Thanks. Maybe I'll try getting it started and check everything in the summer ready for next year. The body work is fine, no dings, dents, scrapes etc so fingers crossed.
