Goggomobil is it worth restoring?
Goggomobil is it worth restoring?
I have been given a Goggomobil saloon, its largely original and intact but has no documents etc. The engine is there as is the interior etc but is this car worth restoring or should I just break for spares??
Cheers

I am just a big car perv but any chance of some pics?
You are in a much better position than most to guesstimate the amount of work required to bring it back to life, I very much doubt there is money in a concourse restoration but A good condition 1 car if it doesn't require too much must be worth a go.

Re: Goggomobil is it worth restoring?
I liked those when they came out - small and cuter than Minis and I even had a Spot-On model of one (which disappeared while I was at boarding school). There was something cute and clever about them and it would be a shame not to rescue it if it is feasible.
Come to think of it, my Spot-On Minor, DB5 Volante, DB6 and various other "collectable" cars that I bought later on also disappeared when I was away from home...

It's so rare it's hard to put a value on it, but looking at the prices other microcars fetch these days it could well be worth restoring. A friend of mine had one in the late sixties, they're rather cute and it would be nice to see one go back on the road.

That's the American museum which is now closed as all the stock has been sold. I hope they keep the web site running as it's a very informative resourceMG Mal wrote:I would talk to the peeps at the Microcar museum, they may even make you an offer for it....

There is also a UK museum which I thought was near to RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire but now appears to have moved to Boston
