Re: Battery post wear & tear
I can't use the standard style of battery disconnect as I can't securely attach the old-style cap to the bar, which is why I posted here for alternatives. :) I already use one in my later Allegro that uses modern clamps, to great effect. The main reasons I have to disconnect are the radio & clock. W...

Re: Battery post wear & tear
just give the posts a good squeeze in two adjacent planes to shrink the hole a little. But wouldn't this also set the post's circumference out of true, making it harder to fit the cap unless I then reshape it which would either undo the squeezing or leave me with a load of lead shavings that I migh...

Re: The black primer on new panels
I remember helping my parents strip woodchip in one old house, only to find 3 consecutive layers of the f***ing stuff had been applied to the wall!

Battery post wear & tear
One of my Allegro's battery posts are suffering from where I unscrew & disconnect the battery terminals when she's parked up. I'd rather not convert her to the later (modern) style clamps, but I do wish to avoid having to change batteries just because the screws can't gain grip any more. I'm thinkin...

Re: VIC Check
They told you it was a write-off. That's what being a write-off means. They might possibly have explained more fully, but they did let you know.

Re: VIC Check
You accepted a write-off offer; that means you've agreed that the car's bolloxed. As you accepted a payout, it's possible that you don't even legally own the car anymore - first step should be to contact the insurers who made the payout to confirm they didn't expect to take ownership. I'd ask for th...
