Thanks for the advice all, I know what you are saying about costs of compressor vs rattle cans but the beauty of rattle cans is you can buy them gradually a couple a month or so whereas stumping up 90 or more for a compressor (Swindon aldi's don't seem to have them at the mo.) plus all the paint and...

Thanks John. I am aware of that general rule and have made sure that I have already purchased the replacements ready for when the weather becomes to bad for top down driving and carry them in my boot "just in case" I also carry a 5 l bottle of water.

PS I had the same problem when I replaced the speedo on wifes Mini many years ago and called the police station to ask if I would be breaking the law. I was told that as long as I didn't claim that it was the actual milage when I sold it, all would be cushty.
